Company Selection

The application of my intern in Sunshine Region Sdn Bhd was easy because I had the outstanding knowledge and passion in EBN that amazed the company director, Mr. Low Siang Tim. I was so lucky enough because I aimed for this company and the only company that I applied and got the application letter from the company just before my final exam.

Pre-Internship Preparation Workshop

I had attended all the pre-internship preparation workshops that were organized by the university.

1. Effective Resume & Cover Letter GE Malaysia (Ms Fiona Yung, leadership Programme HR manager) on 28th August 2014, Friday from 11am to 1pm at Lecture Theater 1.

2. Internship 101 CSC on 28th August 2014 from 4pm to 6pm at Lecture Theater 1

3. Interview Skills: Get Hired! Teleos Global Limited (Mr Ivan Yong) / Loreal (give advice, techniques and tips on how to ace interviews and be hired)

4. Professional Image & Executive Presence Ernst & Young (Ms Kelly Abd Aziz, Manager, Talent Team) The importance of having professional image and appearance.

5. Ethics & Etiquette at work BDO Malaysia (Elaine Hong, Executive Director of Corporate Office) ) on 13th November, 2pm to 3.30pm at LT 12), talked about EQ, MQ and BQ at work

6. Ace your internship Deloitte Malaysia (Mr Fang Li Wei, Executive Director Capital Projects and Infrastructure Southeast Asia) and after that talk, Ms Malarvilly (Programme Director) delivered her final briefing pertaining to our internship placement from 5.30pm- 6pm at LT 12 (20th November, Thursday)

It had prepared me well before my internship journey started. I got to know the importance of attire, communication skills, ways to present of myself and excellent methods to write resumes.

Preparation of Hands On Experiences and Researches in Bird's Nest Industry for my Internship

Furthermore, I purposely went to the swiflets’ house that owned by my father again to harvest the nests. By doing that, I would able to recall and master the skills in harvesting the raw edible bird’s nest (EBN) as I did help out the workers in the past for the harvesting process. Books, magazines and articles about EBN became my treasure and love, I was eager about the information to prepare myself better when internship. 

Researched about the industry and company was carried out to find out the advantages of Sunshine Region and the ways to improve the company. I had checked online for their competitors such as PT Swift Marketing, Tian Ma Bird Nest, Kuan Wellness and few mores. There is a golden maxim said that be knows of yourself and your enemy and you can fight a hundred battles with no danger of defeat. In fact, competitor management that I had prepared was essential for the company to market their products to the consumers. 

I sincerely hoped that with the existence of me as an intern candidate in the company would be the right choice for Mr. Tim. He is the managing director of the company who hired, interviewed me and got impressed for the background about bird's nest that I am having.

Attire Preparation

I was extremely excited and looking forward for my internship in Sunshine Region that started on 29th  December 2014. After the final exam, I went to grab formal shirts in G2000 in order for me to look smart and professional when I go for my intern. Absolutely clothes make a man just as a saddle makes a horse.
